The Software Engineer II will assist in development of building, integration, and deployment of instrument software for a medical device. The right candidate is a positive, motivated, and forward-looking person who collaborates often and effectively with project team members of differing disciplines, presents a positive and professional demeanor, and is willing to learn about the BD medical device instrumentation and applications. They will work under the supervision of the software project team lead and will participate in a full software development life cycle, which includes development in such areas as graphical user interfaces, structured databases, reporting engines, network communications, as well as various process control systems (thermal, optical, mechanical, robotic, and vision).
A successful candidate must be a self-motivated positive person who puts team goals ahead of individual accomplishments, has a positive can-do attitude, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
Works with senior level engineers to specify, plan, design, develop, test and support software components as assigned
Responsible for implementation of new software component designs or enhancements to existing software tools and software products; assists in the implementation of more complex subsystems and systems
Collaborates with other application and instrument development teams to develop and utilize common tools and shared components
Suggests improvements or adaptations to existing methods or processes to improve productivity
Assists in the establishment and clarification of specifications for assigned work
Assists in the design direction or modifications of software system components
Works with team to establish necessary test specification and requirements for software product validation of designs
Participates in decisions on scope of work, duration of tasks, and determination of requirements
Participates in code inspections and technical reviews
Presents material on new or enhanced designs to members of project team
Presents data and design reviews to management as needed
Maintain skills by sensing and keeping up with software industry standard processes
Provide regular status updates and participate in all scrum activities
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
Minimum of 2 years in Microsoft Windows development environment
Minimum of 2 years in Microsoft C# and .NET development
Minimum of 1 year experience in Microsoft SQL Server in a .NET development environment
Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment
Experience with JavaScript, Angular, and Web Services is desirable
Experience in Robotics, Fluidics, or Motion Control is a plus
Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Strong technical documentation skills
Excellent problem-solving capabilities in a team environment
Demonstrated positive work ethic with a strong commitment to achieving project goals
Experience in designing and implementing complex data structures and algorithms, with a focus on process efficiency is a plus
Direct technical experience in software engineering is a plus
Experience in molecular biology, microbiology, or other life sciences is a plus
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related Engineering discipline.
Minimum of two years relevant experience.
