Job Description/Responsibilities

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville's Department of English Language and Literature seeks a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor to teach first-year composition courses. SIUE's first-year writing sequence helps students prepare for the complex writing and critical thinking tasks that they will encounter throughout college and later in their communities and workplaces. In particular, the Department needs an Instructor interested in and dedicated to teaching our growing numbers of undergraduate English language learners and international students (English 101N and 102N are specifically for non-native speakers of English).

Minimum Qualifications


Advanced degree (master's or higher) in English (or related area) that must be in hand at time of application and at least two years teaching experience in composition that must include teaching English Language learners / non-native English speakers.

Preferred qualifications: Graduate coursework in rhetoric and composition preferred.
