Description
The Part-Time Housing Representative provides logistical, administrative, and operational support for various academic and residential programs within University Housing. This position plays a critical role in supporting residence hall operations, managing room reservations and events, and facilitating student success initiatives. The Housing Representative will also assist with key inventory management, vendor contracts, and other operational tasks. Additionally, this position will work closely with residents, staff, and external organizations to ensure smooth operations and facilitate access to academic and residential resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Logistical & Administrative Support:
Provide administrative support to two residence halls, including key inventory management and P-card reconciliation.
Support the coordination and logistics of residence hall events, including room reservations, set-up, and follow-through.
Serve as a liaison for external groups reserving space in University Housing, evaluating room use requests and ensuring adherence to departmental policies.
Academic Support & Assessment:
Assist in compiling, analyzing, and organizing Starfish data to track and support student success initiatives.
Compile and analyze data related to academic programs, including study tables, Cougar Path to Success usage, and follow-up on Starfish referrals.
Report on and provide insights into student success program assessment data to inform decision-making and improve services.
Meet with residents to assess academic progress and connect them with appropriate resources and success plans.
Student Success & Resource Coordination:
Triage requests and determine the appropriate Housing staff or program resource to address student concerns related to academic success.
Follow up with students regarding academic resources, success plans, and available support.
Ensure residents are aware of and have access to academic support resources, including study spaces, tutoring, and success coaching.
Space Management & Residential Operations:
Assist with managing residential assignments, space changes, and key distribution for residents.
Support the distribution and management of residential resources as needed for University Housing operations.
Other Duties:
Support one-time initiatives and special projects related to University Housing operations.
Typical Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Any combination totaling two yearsfrom the following categories:
Housing, residential life, hospitality, business, or closely related work experiences.
College course work in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Administration, Hospitality Sciences, Business Sciences, Social or Behavioral Sciences, or related disciplines, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
30 semester hours equals six (6) months
60 semester hours or Associate's Degree equals one (1) year
90 semester hours equals two (2) years
120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals three (3) years
Master's Degree or higher equals four (4) years
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Master's Degree
Experience in housing and residence life at SIUE
Knowledge of SIUE University Housing and general University policies and procedures.
Knowledge of SIUE campus technology systems (i.e. Banner, StarRez, EMS, Starfish).
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Organization skills.
Detail oriented
Excellent verbal and written skills
Initiative and enthusiasm for work to assist students
Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position. Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver’s License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.
