We are seeking a highly motivated and creative manager for our sustainability team. This role involves working closely with the Communications team to define an actionable strategy to position our group of companies as sustainability-driven, helping us to reinforce our sustainability vision & values; refine our environmental, social and governance (ESG) messaging; promote our accomplishments and key commitments; and help consolidate the main drivers of our sustainability strategy into a compelling narrative.
This Manager will produce sustainability-related content (including presentations, testimonials, videos, various reports and report content), while supporting the Sustainability team with content development and participating in events where the content can be promoted. The ideal candidate will have strong communication experience, exceptional writing skills, and a passion for sustainability.
Main Function:
Support the Global Chief Sustainability Officer in the production of sustainability content, visuals, presentations, etc. to highlight the commitments, actions and progress of the Group's Sustainability Global Strategy.
Work with the communications department to define and implement an actionable communications strategy, including a communications calendar for the corporate sustainability team
Manage and monitor trends & developments related to international sustainability initiatives / benchmarking
Search for opportunities to position the group as a leader in sustainability, participating of relevant conferences, applying for recognized awards, etc.
Responsibilities:
Communication Positioning Strategy for Sustainability
Work with the Communications team to define an actionable strategy to position the group of companies as sustainability-driven and define the best approach to communicate with key audiences, such as employees, customers and other external stakeholders
Search for opportunities to participate in relevant conferences and events that can help the company to highlight its approach to Sustainability
Work with the Sustainability Team to define the best way to communicate about the progress of the company's Sustainability Strategy and sustainability initiatives (internally and externally)
Define the best way to engage stakeholders as "Sustainability Ambassadors" to help us to communicate our initiatives.
Content Production and Management:
Develop and produce high-quality sustainability-related content such as presentations, photography, videos, and testimonials.
Support the creation of communication materials that promote the company's sustainability initiatives to both internal and external audiences, such as press releases and social media posts.
Generate external, customer-facing messaging and materials for use by sustainability leaders.
Event Participation:
Support the Sustainability team (and others, as needed) at sustainability events, conferences, and seminars.
Coordinate the company's participation in events, including preparing speeches, presentations, and promotional materials.
Gather photos, videos, soundbites, and other materials to contribute to social media posts and traditional media pitches.
Reporting and Documentation:
Produce reports from relevant meetings, most notably Sustainability Committees meetings.
Produce other reports required by key stakeholders.
Interdepartmental Collaboration:
Work closely with the Communications team to align sustainability communication strategies with overall company objectives.
Coordinate with various internal teams to gather necessary information and data for content production.
Maintain a sustainability communication calendar and ensure efficient execution of planned activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of sustainability communication strategies.
Implement improvements based on feedback and performance analysis.
Contribute to the development of strategic communications related to sustainability initiatives and provide content to differentiate the company in the marketplace and enhance our sustainability reputation
Support the development of annual sustainability reports, providing content on best practices
Design and develop a central content repository of sustainability assets and ensure consistency with the overall corporate sustainability strategy
Use ongoing and relevant industry research and data to develop effective storytelling that resonates with a broad array of audiences
Proofread, edit, and revise sustainability content generated by various stakeholders
Key Skill Sets
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Proven experience in multimedia content production, including photography and videography.
Knowledge of best practices and trends in sustainability communications.
Project management skills and ability to work under pressure.
Strong analytical skills and attention to details
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
Strong copy writing and editing, as well as a strength for creative storytelling including the ability to condense complex material into compelling copy and visuals
Ability to understand major enterprise and business issues and challenges
Ability to work with and influence industry peers and leaders
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse cultures, functions, and time zones, able to successfully operate in a matrixed organization with minimal supervision
Ability to align disclosures with requirements utilizing diligent practices and processes
Ease with navigating political relationships, within and outside organizations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications, preferably with a focus on sustainability, ESG or corporate social responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in multinational companies or large corporations.
Additional certifications or courses in sustainability or corporate communications
Reporting Structure:
This position has dotted line responsibility and alignment with Corporate communications to ensure connectivity to other enterprise efforts.
