Job Description:

Lead and guide Snowsports instructors in conjunction with the managers, and director in a premier guest experience while delivering revenue contributions and providing a fulfilling experience for the Snowsports employees and guests. Shares our traditions of stewardship and inclusiveness. Inspires deep connections with our mountains and helps Create lifelong Snowsports enthusiasts. Supervisors will each have an area of responsibility within the Snowsports School operations as well as being an integral part of the daily operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The supervisor is closely in touch with the concerns and needs of the instructor. They can use tact and diplomacy to negotiate and develop respect and confidence as a leader.
Approve instructor daily timecards
Schedule instructors for daily operations, special programs, and private lessons
Enforce and provide input of policy and procedures
Be visible and available to instructors to assist in lessons and in generating return clients
Ensure timely completion of instructor evaluations and observations
Effectively and efficiently supervise systems, operations, and provide response to product and service shortfalls
Frequent review with management to maintain familiarity with the budget and financial goals
Demonstrate the ability to successfully lead and engage the Snowsports staff, and encourage participation in professional and personal training and development
Attend, participate, and lead in any meetings when appropriate
Knowledge of accident/incident procedures and documentation
Ability to resolve guest concerns and issues
Motivate instructors to perform under adverse conditions
Provide training and guidance to reduce guest and instructor accidents and incidents
Assess facilities, procedures, and environmental factors with an eye towards reducing accidents and incidents
Assign guests to appropriate level, based upon age, discipline, skill and motivations of guests
Willing to teach and assist with lessons
Observe classes for quality, including guest centered delivery and technical content
Assist in all operations that have an impact on the guest experience at Taos Ski Valley
Independently develop and drive ideas, projects, and business opportunities that are forward thinking and industry reaching
Lead and develop a culture that supports the mission, purpose, vision, and values of the Snowsports School and Taos Ski Valley
Create a culture and training strategy that will meet the needs of guests and business while maintaining instructor morale
Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with all TSV departments
Serve as a primary representative for Snowsports, Taos Ski Valley, and the surrounding area
Ability to give positive feedback to encourage guest participation in Snowsports programs
Possess intimate knowledge of all Taos Ski Valley programs, lessons, special events, promotions policies and procedures
During busy periods a 6-day work week may be required as well as some evenings
Communication with sales staff and managers on needs with all types of lessons
Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Knowledge:

PSIA, AASI level 1 and CS1 preferred
Minimum of 3 years Snowsports teaching experience and/or equivalent experience preferred
Reads, understands, complies, and enforces Taos Ski Valley's employee handbook and Taos Snowsports Manual
Strong personal character and commitment to Taos Ski Valley, Inc.'s Commitment and Passions
Effectively and efficiently divide children between ages 3-15 into groups based on age, skill, group size, guest, employee, and business needs
Maximize Children's Center class average while balancing the guest, instructor, and guest needs
Understanding of operational leadership within a skill based Snowsports School
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings


Work Environment:
Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

Has the ability to teach skiing or snowboarding while safely navigating the Ski Area in a professional and exemplary manner
Must be able to ski, ride, walk, kneel, crawl, carry, reach, stand, stoop, squat and lift equipment or students up to 35lbs, while actively teaching and coaching students for the duration of the lesson to complete all daily job duties
Qualified expert skiing/riding ability. Must be able to physically, clearly and accurately demonstrate skiing/snowboarding model at any and all levels of skiing/riding

Positions dealing with children, of safety-sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving or positions that handle cash may require a background check and MVR check. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and MVR check.
