The location in Fort Mill, SC is seeking talent to fill the position ofPay Master. This job is full-time permanent.
The payroll group has as a mission to manage the payroll operations within a timeframe, conform to the fiscal rules and regulations in addition to the policies and procedures of the company.
Reporting to the Payroll Operations, Manager, the Paymaster is primarily responsible to coordinate and for carrying out complex payroll analyses to support the payroll production activities for all unionized and non-unionized employees in all of Domtar's divisions, within prescribed time frames and maintaining constant quality control. This person must also coordinate year-end activities and, if needed, payroll production activities.
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Ensure that Payroll complies with all government, state, legislative and fiscal regulations, and with conventional standards and internal processes and procedures;
Coordinate all payroll operational activities performed by payroll, coordinators. Ensure compliance with deadlines and deliveries requests;
Provide support to Payroll resources and other parties involved in employee payroll so that all said regulations are understood and properly applied;
Control and analyze any variances and inconsistencies related to payroll processing, specific employee files, or other situations, and ensure they are rectified so that the payroll production can be completed;
Perform the payroll quality control for executive and management committee member. Ensure the accuracy of all payments and the timely distribution of change notifications (STIP, LTIP, shares, taxable benefits, and so on);
Participate in the application and regular updating of payroll processes and procedures and ensure they are used appropriately by payroll coordinators. As well as the implementation of security measures to guaranty the safeguarding personal data. Ensure that login information is always up to date and validated regularly;
Ensure and participate in the implementation and updating of financial controls (SOX), including internal and external audit processes (audit's process) and audits requested by third parties (states, governments, municipalities, etc.);
Coordinate the year-end process and ensure compliance with timelines. Manage the flow of the various documents received from the parties involved for the same year-end process. Ensure meet timelines for taxes and summary in a timely manner;
Carry out, coordinate and control the various tests for improving the payroll systems and interfaces, as well as those related to fiscal and legislative updates, and ensure the test results are reliable;
Train payroll employees and assist in the transmission of payroll knowledge to the HRIS team;
Participate in new initiatives and projects related to Payroll, HRIS and all other departments requiring payroll expertise.
Key Skills:
Proven ability to coordinate payroll production activities;
Strong analytical skills and sound judgment;
Experience in processing a full cycle of pay with a high volume of employees (minimum 2000 employees)
Excellent team player;

Sense of autonomy and discipline.
Good knowledge of payroll rules;
Strong experience with Microsoft Office Software, particularly with Excel;
Professional Experience/Qualifications:
College diploma in administration or accounting;
Certified by the CPA: Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or Certified Payroll Manager (CPM);
At least six (6) years of relevant experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar position (Paymaster);
At least four (4) years of experience in a Payroll Technician position (handling the Canadian and/or U.S. payroll process from start to finish, including year-end payroll production);
In-depth knowledge of the SAP system or experience with a large payroll system;
In-depth knowledge of American payroll expertise, Canadian payroll expertise is an asset
