SUMMARY: NECC is seeking a talented Senior Systems Administrator (SSA) who possesses excellent interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team; will be self-motivated and proactive; will provide excellent customer service, technical support, and will become an integral member of a large team of personnel who provide technology services to the college and community.
The SSA will be responsible for maintaining the server infrastructure, both physical, virtual and cloud environments, including Microsoft domain controllers, DHCP, DNS services. The SSA will plan the installation of and maintain systems and services hosted within the corporate infrastructure as well as the cloud hosted solutions. This position requires the ability to utilize systems analysis and scripting languages like PowerShell and other techniques to resolve issues and to design. In addition, the SSA makes recommendations for new products, technologies, and services to enhance user productivity, network and system performance, as well as security. It is critical that SSA is willing to cross-train and empower other technical staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for engineering, support, monitoring, and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers and related services.
Provide technical support and improvise solutions related to implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows Servers and Microsoft Active Directory in on-premises datacenters.
Knowledge of computing resources and management: subscriptions and licensing, resource groups, virtual machines, hypervisors, storage accounts, load balancers, application gateways, LANs, subnets, DNS.
Responsible for maintaining and monitoring Microsoft SQL server, DB maintenance and backups.
Responsible for Certificate installation, renewals, maintenance and monitoring for servers and services.
Responsible for Infrastructure and Cloud monitoring with enterprise grade tools.
Design, deploy and support hyperconverged server virtualization platform.
Perform Windows and Linux Server OS administration, ensure server maintenance and upkeep.
Install, configure, and upgrade server and infrastructure software.
Perform regular updates and backup operations for data protection and recovery.
Taking ownership of tickets, documenting related actions in the system, and closing tickets upon completion.
Communicating regularly with team members, apprising them of ticket status and anticipated resolution timing.
Prioritize and respond to requests for service and provide escalation support for IT Service Desk staff
Provide timely and efficient customer service. Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner. Manage and respond to escalated client inquiries.
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors. Document problems and resolutions and assess the impact of issues which may require escalation to Senior Management.
Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues.
Perform root cause analysis and resolves faults and errors in applications.
Research and implementation of new tools, products, and technologies to improve efficiency, performance, and cost effectiveness.
Recommend, develop, plan, manage, implement, and fully document IT projects.
Identify improvements to IT documentation, network maps, processes/procedures, and tickets.
Develop and enhance processes and technical documentation, create back-up procedures, test plans, and reports.
Assist in infrastructure project work, including campus relocation, closure, opening, office relocation, expansion.
Provide technical support to end users, via Helpdesk requests within specified time limits.
Assist in maintaining network diagrams and documentation.
Crosstrain with others on Infrastructure team to ensure proper backup of skills and abilities.
Perform off-hour updates, upgrades and deployments.
Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent analytical skills: detail-oriented; ability to grasp new concepts quickly, synthesize complex information effectively, and communicate complicated issues clearly and simply to present clear and actionable choices and recommendations.
Experience with virtual environment.
The candidate should have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage and support Windows and Red Hat Linux Servers.
Strong PowerShell scripting skills.
Knowledge of current industry standard IT technologies and market trends.
Experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online/on-prem, Entra AD and on-prem AD.
Ability to work in a constantly evolving environment.
Collaborative team-player who can find creative and practical solutions in a dynamic work environment.
The ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Five (5) years of experience working with Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Exchange and VMware administration.
Experienced in VMware, Azure, Veeam or similar Backup Software, Exchange management.
Experience configuring and maintaining SANs, backups and DR.
A solid foundation of basic networking concepts, including hands-on experience managing network devices
Ability to handle ambiguity, juggle multiple matters at once, and quickly and seamlessly shift from one situation or task to another
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primary office located on the Haverhill campus, standard office cubicle in shared office space. This is a collaborative team environment with regular interactions with other IT staff and occasional external department or vendor interactions. This position has the potential for after-hours or weekend work to perform system upgrades or respond to emergencies.
