CLASSIFICATION: Principal Electro-Optical Engineer
GRADE: Exempt; Regular, Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide expertise to resolve the most challenging and unique problems in the area of responsibility. Work independently to solve exceptionally difficult or unique problems for which little, if any, precedence exists. Provide support for electro-optical systems design and implementation. Provide authoritative expertise in the design and implementation of highly constrained EO systems for harsh environments e.g., aboard high dynamic flight motion simulators. Provide in-depth expertise in the area of IR, UV and LASER radiometry including analysis, alignment and calibration of detector/sensor systems.
GENERAL DUTIES:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must possess Either a minimum of a MS from an accredited school in Optical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, physics, mathematics or a closely related technical field as appropriate to the position and a minimum of fifteen years of senior level experience in specialized or focused areas related to electro-optical systems design and implementation; or BS from an accredited school in Optical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, physics, mathematics or a closely related technical field as appropriate to the position and a minimum of eighteen years of senior level experience in specialized or focused areas related to electro-optical systems design and implementation.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Top Secret clearance. Applicant may have a Secret clearance, that has been adjudicated within the past 4 years. Must meet requirements to work in enhanced security environments. All selected candidates must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation and drug test as a condition of placement into this position. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most duties will be performed in at temperature-controlled office environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; and requires some lifting or moving of objects. Must be capable of sitting, walking, and standing.
