This multi-faceted materials quality position is responsible for ensuring Makino receives world class material that is of the highest quality.
Performs or coordinates the testing and inspection activities, and subsequent evaluation of the results to ensure quality of workmanship and compliance with specifications.
Coordinates the resolution of nonconforming material with the appropriate department and/or supplier.
Participates in and evaluates quality system surveys to identify supplier conformity to Makino quality requirements.
Oversees and participates in the application of generally accepted quality assurance methods used to analyze tests and inspection results for incoming purchased materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES and AUTHORITIES include the following. Others may be assigned.
Receiving Inspection
Conduct/coordinate inspection of parts and options from suppliers
Review and disposition inspection reports from suppliers
Maintain inspection status and coordinate material movements in SAP and with Stockroom
Assist engineering as required to define inspection criteria for new or problem material
Maintain and control receiving inspection area
Coordinates and approves inspection and verification of required retrofit options to confirm quality and completeness of material compared to the S.O., drawings, and B.O.M.s
Maintain data tracking programs and data integrity for DMR, EFA, RGA. Maintain physical and electronic records of inspection results and non-conformance incidences
Non-conforming Material Evaluation
Management of MRB process and area
As required, convene and coordinate Material Review Board for evaluation and disposition of nonconforming material
Interact with Manufacturing and Engineering in the identification, and resolution of product quality issues
Corrective action evaluation to ensure effective correction
Assist with the return of defective material to vendors
ID and report recurring problems on parts and suppliers
Assist to identify unidentified material
Maintain DMR Database
Process returned good for resolution of nonconformance's or return of material for repair
Coordinates and approves Engineering Failure Analysis (EFA) of failed spindles for warranty determination based on performance criteria and evaluation of SIR (spindle incident report), control data (if appropriate) and spindle disassembly results including thorough analysis of spindle components
Process EFA's from MTS/MA to ensure accuracy and clear understanding
Supplier/Customer Interface
As required, interact with the supplier/customer to assist with interpretation of inspection requirements/results, nonconformance, or corrective actions
Assist with quality portions of supplier audits and qualification
Assist with the quality evaluation and reporting of suppliers for Supplier Evaluation
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Although there are no direct supervisory responsibilities, the incumbent for the position is responsible to ensure that work activities continue to progress when delegated to others.
