Safety Specialist III or Sr. (Level Depends on Experience)
Where will you work: The successful candidate will work out of our Tampa Marine Terminal. You will also, be eligible to work a 9/80 with every other Friday off.
Join our safety team to champion a culture of safety and health! In this role, you'll partner with employees across operations, maintenance, and support staff focusing on safety and operational excellence. You will serve as a resource for various operational and support work groups, conduct safety inspections, develop health and safety programs, and perform site safety audits to ensure a safe and productive workplace. You will thrive in this role if you are passionate about safety and enjoy traveling.
Travel expectations: Travel within the continental US to support site activities. This will include approximately 30% travel to sites outside of the central Florida home base sites, including Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Illinois, and Minnesota.
What you'll do:
Partner with operations personnel to provide win-win solutions for safe terminal operations at 12 sites.
Serve as a subject matter expert and point of contact for employee questions regarding regulatory safety requirements, Mosaic's safety programs and processes, and the Mosaic Management System.
Ensure unsafe acts, conditions, or non-compliance issues are addressed and communicated as required.
Contribute to incident investigations by gathering evidence and associated documentation and facilitating root cause analyses.
Develop and facilitate safety training, serve as subject matter expert for training-related questions
Participate in pre-construction or other pre-project safety meetings and provide subject matter expertise for project teams.
Coordinate site preparations for inspections and lead field tours. Follow up as required.
Lead or participate in safety projects or programs, including SafeStart and the Action Based Safety Observation program.
What you'll need:
Safety Specialist III
Bachelor's degree in related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience or high school diploma with at least 7 years relevant experience.
Advanced knowledge of applicable safety regulatory framework in the area of work (OSHA)
Advanced knowledge of industrial safety processes, including hazardous materials
Advanced knowledge of management systems
Safety Specialist Sr.
Bachelor's degree in related field with at least 5 years of experience as a safety professional in an industrial/mining environment or high school diploma with at least 9 years of relevant experience, with increasing levels of responsibility
Expert knowledge of applicable safety regulatory framework (OSHA)
Professional designation such as CSP or CRSP.
All
Industrial/mining experience required, with the ability to work comfortably and safely in an industrial environment.
Travel within the continental US to support site activities with anticipated travel of approximately 30%
Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card
Must be able to coach and influence others effectively, when not in a position of authority
Must be very comfortable prioritizing work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
MS office (excel, word, PowerPoint, and outlook), basic understanding of databases
Ability to apply current requirements to the work setting to meet site or business unit needs
Ability to interface and communicate effectively throughout the workforce
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work independently with a very high degree of autonomy
Strong attention to detail and time management
Effective prioritization of requests and accountability for follow through, ability to manage competing priorities
Build and maintain effective relationships throughout all levels of the organization
