The IT Operations System Administrator is a critical member of the IT team, responsible for working closely with the IT Infrastructure Manager and assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure. This includes managing servers, network infrastructure, cloud services, and ensuring the stability and security of all systems. The System Administrator role reports to the IT Infrastructure Manager and will play a key role in IT projects, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with other IT staff to optimize the technology environment.
Areas of Responsibility:
Design, implement, and maintain Windows server infrastructure.
Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls (Meraki, Sonicwall), switches, routers, and WAN connections.
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot VMware vSphere virtualized environment.
Implement and manage security measures, including endpoint protection (Malwarebytes), patch management, and vulnerability assessments.
Proactively monitor system performance and availability using monitoring tools and troubleshoot issues.
Collaborate with the Infrastructure Manager on IT projects and strategic initiatives.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems and processes.
Mentor and provide guidance to IT Operations Help Desk staff.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Requirements:
Pre-requisite Core Competencies:
3+ years of experience with Windows Server administration.
Deep understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and DNS.
Extensive experience with network administration, including firewalls, routers, switches, and VLANs.
Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud services.
Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
Experience with server and network monitoring tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with Okta, Manage Engine ECC, Malwarebytes, and O365 Business.
Skills Required:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Experience with IT project management and implementation.
Strong understanding of IT security best practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience Required:
3+ years of experience as a System Administrator in a similar environment.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience Preferred:
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker).
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform).
Experience with configuration management tools.
Experience with ticketing software (Freshdesk).
Experience with API integrations and application integrations.
Working knowledge of O365 administration and security.
Industry certifications (e.g., MCSA, CCNA) are a plus.
Experience with Okta, IAM, and integrating cloud tooling.
Experience with Confluence and knowledge base management tools.
