Job Description:

OU HSC is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. We are currently building world-class institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer. The Senior Library Tech is responsible for providing assistance and services to patrons and colleagues. Primary activities include Service/Information Desk coverage, circulation of materials, photocopying/scanning, and stack maintenance. This position is supervised by the Head of Access Services. 


Duties:



  • Provides assistance to the OUHSC Library by answering questions, assisting patrons, making transactions, and distributing and returning materials.

  • Maintains and updates various records and files.  Ensures accuracy and completeness.  

  • Work with library faculty and staff to convert catalog items and make digital media resources available to patrons.

  • Assist with NPM services including 3D printing orders and exam proctoring. 

  • May assist in using library computers, photocopiers, fax machines, research materials, etc. Assists library personnel by covering for absent employees, etc.

  • Assists in the selection and training of new employees. 

  • Assist in supervising NPM Lib Tech, delegate tasks, and act as a lead employee. 

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: High School diploma or GED AND:




  •  24 months of library experience.


Skills:



  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.

  • Physical:

    • Standing, walking, stooping, bending, and reaching.

    • Engage in repetitive motion.

    • Ability to move up to 25 pounds.




  • Environmental: 

    • Standard library environment.




 Department Preferences:



  • Bachelor's Degree; will substitute for relevant experience.

  • Excellent skills in the areas of customer service and verbal/written communication.

  • Ability to organize individual and group assignments and follow through to completion.

  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and web browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Edge).

  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Ability to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of resources and policies.
