Job Summary
The Senior Accountant, Corporate Reporting is primarily responsible for supporting Murphy's Forecasting, Budget, and Analysis with a focus on General and Administrative (G&A) reporting. The ideal candidate will serve as a key resource for Murphy's organization on all matters related to G&A. This includes, but not limited to, communicating to stakeholders regarding forecasting and budgeting assumptions, performing ad-hoc variance analysis and reporting, G&A allocations and charge-outs and supporting the monthly Financial Reviews as well as annual budget deliverables.
This role will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the day-to-day processes associated with forecasting, budgeting, internal reporting, and analysis
Build and maintain complex financial models to derive strategy and provide analysis
Support stakeholders throughout the organization regarding G&A budgeted, forecasted and actualized costs
Develop and enhance collaboration with Segment / Business Unit by building strong relationships
Utilize systems and processes to simplify, standardize, and automate tasks
Consistently improve quality and timeliness of deliverables
Supports FP&A needs within the Segment / Business Unit
Licenses/ Certifications
MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 8 years experience in general accounting or combination of experience with FP&A.
Advanced proficiency MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
Experience navigating through an ERP
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Oil & Gas - E&P sector is preferred with deep understanding of G&A, including salaries, wages and benefits, and various methods of charging out G&A costs (allocations, time-writing, overhead, capitalization)
Experience with SAP, Hyperion, Workiva, and Power BI
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
