As a Senior Developer with the Biomedical Informatics team at the nation's top pediatric hospital, you will develop high-quality software to support innovative healthcare services. You'll design and refine application logic, handle coding, testing, debugging, and ensure smooth integration across systems. Proficiency in Python, R, and Linux (or similar operating systems) is essential, along with experience in AWS cloud computing, AI services, and database management. Working in an Agile environment, you'll lead complex projects, providing mentorship and contributing to the success of the team and system implementations.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES




Development





  • Design and implement new software solutions, enhancing and upgrading applications to meet evolving business and user needs.






  • Conduct in-depth business analysis, develop testing protocols, and provide support to ensure software reliability and performance.






  • Oversee maintenance and support for a large, complex platform or a portfolio of applications, ensuring consistent operation and minimal downtime.





Collaboration




  • Act as a senior liaison between technical and non-technical internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.






  • Assess and synthesize complex user requirements, translating them into actionable development tasks and deliverables.






  • Develop comprehensive work breakdown structures and implementation plans that align with best practices and the development lifecycle.






  • Lead internal reviews of code, ensuring quality and adherence to standards, and participate in artifact and deliverable evaluations.






  • Execute thorough testing, including data validation and information security reviews, to safeguard data integrity and compliance.





Requirements Gathering





  • Play a significant role in the development of business, user, and system requirements, driving projects that meet business objectives.






  • Analyze requirements across multiple initiatives for alignment, identifying opportunities for scalable, reusable solutions.






  • Design and implement secure interfaces for accessing internal and external data, optimizing integration with other systems.





Support





  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting for a complex platform or portfolio of applications, ensuring timely resolution of issues.






  • Maintain a comprehensive library of issues and solutions, facilitating efficient troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.






  • Manage detailed documentation for support procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness in support ticket records.





Planning and Mentorship




  • Contribute to short- and long-range planning, offering insights to align development efforts with organizational goals.






  • Mentor and guide other developers, fostering skill growth and knowledge-sharing within the team.






  • Assist in interviewing and selecting new team members to support ongoing and future project needs.





JOB QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field


  • 5+ years of work experience in a related job discipline





PREFFERED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:





  • Proficiency in Python programming language.






  • Familiarity with R programming language.






  • Experience with Linux operating system (highly desirable).






  • Advanced understanding of other-types operating systems.






  • Strong preference for cloud computing, particularly with AWS.






  • Experience with AI services.


  • Database expertise.
