Sr Principal (Specialist), Cyber Recovery Architect

Northern Trust is continually adapting to changing needs and market opportunities and IT strategic change programs are often required to meet these challenges. This position is responsible for driving and guiding adoption of strategic imperatives across the Global Technology Infrastructure organization.

The successful candidate has a strong IT cross-functional background and experience in managing organizations that deliver complex technical solutions.

Knowledge/Skills


  • Multi-disciplinary IT practitioner with strong knowledge of strategic program design, expertise in systems engineering, security and required competencies.

  • Skilled in translating broad strategic intent into actionable plans and directions to enable delivery.

  • Authoritative knowledge of technology architecture across Data Center technologies, including networking, system administration, application and information security fundamentals

  • Excellent leadership, organizational skills and management skills.

  • Ability to work in matrix organization to drive change and gain agreement to achieve objectives

  • Person must have excellent negotiation and conflict management skills and have experience working with senior stakeholders

  • Excellent writing, problem solving, presentation and storytelling skills.

Major Duties


  • Develop Data Center strategy incorporating cloud adoption & recoverability and resiliency from all forms of disaster modes including Cyber-Events.

  • Partner with infrastructure managers, solution architects and information security to design future state end to end platforms (customer experience, application delivery, infrastructure enabled)

  • Plan, develop, organize, monitor and deliver services and projects. Produce quality deliverables including requirements, test plans, and design documentation

  • Interact closely with the Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Engineering, Business Unit Chief Architects and Information Security to standardize technology patterns

  • Deliver end-to-end technical resiliency solutions to the organization, utilizing the latest technologies and leveraging automation mechanisms for reducing recovery times.

  • Align with cloud strategy work to determine applicability of private, hybrid and public cloud delivery

  • Align infrastructure to information security roadmap

  • Partner with line of business CIOs to enable delivery of platform change in optimal way

  • Collaborate with vendors to achieve business outcomes

Job Requirements:


  • Thorough knowledge of distributed systems and ability to understanding system interactions and dependencies

  • Ability to understand and plan for infrastructure to support AI/ML, Blockchain & other emerging technologies

  • Ability to multi-task across areas of responsibility, projects, BAU work

  • Deliver high resiliency and near-zero downtime requirements for systems

  • Ongoing awareness of technology trends and take appropriate steps to position Northern Trust to take advantage of these trends.

Experience

1. Requires a college or university degree and/or relevant proven work experience, organizational, leadership, and management skills to provide knowledge to the functional business.

2. Extensive experience, that has been developed over 15+ years, in change / design initiatives, covering such areas as operations, IT and product development; with a track record of accomplishment in large, complex projects and change initiatives.

3. Strong experience in providing strategic direction, enterprise architecture and solution delivery
