Educational Specialist, Math and Computer Technologies


Full Time Probationary Spring 2025 HV-FAC-111324


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   Master’s Degree in Math content area/field; at least two years’ experience teaching at the post-secondary level; Experience in developmental education program/learning center is preferred; experience as a tutor, workshop leader or trainer preferred. Previous Online teaching or tutoring experience is preferred. 


DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) Math and Tech Education Specialist reports to the Associate Dean of Learning and Academic Support Centers and performs the following duties:
•    Develops, delivers, and monitors learning activities of students seeking assistance in math;
•     Develops innovative activities/programs to support student learning in math, collaborating with academic departments and student services offices as appropriate;
•     Selects, develops, and updates instructional materials to support math courses instruction;
•     Selects, develops, and updates self-paced instructional materials for students seeking math assistance;
•    Provides technical assistance to students during high traffic times in the CLC;


•     Oversee Math Learning Assistance Center activities, supervise work study students and tutors, and open and close the Center, as needed;


•    Has flexibility to provide support during evening, weekends and to our extension and branch campuses, both in-person and remotely;


•    Develops and conducts workshops to improve students’ math skills;


•    Serves as LAC liaison to academic departments and other campus committees as appropriate;


•    Develops and regularly executes an appropriate and comprehensive plan to evaluate math support at the LAC;


•    Participates in LAC staff meetings, staff development activities and department meetings as appropriate;


•    Performs other duties consistent with the role of Education Specialist.


The Salary for this academic year position is $52,000.00.
