The University of Pittsburgh, Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences, is seeking a Technician to work with faculty members and undergraduate student laboratory assistants to complete all aspects of preparation for Foundations of Biology Laboratory courses. This will include (but not be limited to): preparation of course materials such as media,reagent aliquots, and sterile supplies; and maintaining laboratory equipment; ordering supplies. In addition, the Technician will assist in trouble-shooting protocols and procedures in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology, ecology, and others.

Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in support of a diverse community are required.
Performs laboratory testing and some analysis on multiple types of specimen samples. Operates and properly sterilizes equipment and maintains inventory and assists with ordering.
Mixing laboratory chemicals, transporting laboratory equipment, reagents, and supplies. Proficiency in computer work including Microsoft Office Suite and looking up job-related information on the internet.
Ability to move in and out of various lab spaces. Lifting of laboratory equipment and supplies is required—approximately 30 lbs. A variety of sitting and standing.
