POSITION SUMMARY:



This position is a discretionary position. This position will monitor, control, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all refrigeration equipment, steam generating equipment, compressed air systems, water supply and distribution systems, return condensate systems, mechanically, electrically, hydraulically and pneumatically using the proper tools and test equipment.



Responsibilities

Knowledge:



  • Complete all utilities maintenance.

  • Perform all necessary documentation of activities.

  • Install equipment on all utility systems.

  • Perform general housekeeping duties in the department.

  • Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF Requirements.

  • Keep all work areas clean.

  • Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF requirements.

  • Perform all positions of job rotation as needed.

  • Perform any other work as assigned by management.

  • Must obey all safety, USDA, HACCP, and company rules and regulations.

  • Must be able to interpret drawings, schematics and be able to use tools as required

  • Maintain entire ammonia system including valve gangs, evaporators, vessels, and compressors.

  • Maintain and monitor plant boiler systems.

  • Maintain and monitor plant HVAC systems.

  • Observe and record temperatures and pressures as required.

  • Observe and maintain air compressors.

  • Maintain plant freshwater and make up water systems.


  • Collaborate with PSM coordinator to review written Process Safety Manual (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RPM) programs





PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.


  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

  • Ability and willingness to use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.

  • Ability and willingness to reach high and low levels, frequently.

  • Ability and willingness to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 40 pounds frequently.

  • Ability and willingness to lift with arms up to floor to waist and waist to shoulder up to 40 pounds.

  • Ability and willingness to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend up to 10 hours.

  • Ability and willingness to climb stairs.

  • Ability and willingness to work in wet conditions and cold temperatures at 10 degrees.




REQUIREMENTS:




  • Minimum of a High School Diploma, or equivalent level of education, combined with successfully completed courses from a technical college, or equivalent level of education, in welding, basic electrical wiring, hydraulics, or electromechanical power transmission.

  • Possess good communication skills (both written and orally).

  • PLC Troubleshooting skills.

  • Electrical controls, wiring, instrumentation & Troubleshooting skills, Pipe Fitting/Plumbing skills

  • Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining Pneumatic systems

  • Minimum of 6 months of mechanic work experience documented in the work history section of the application or be a graduate of an industrial maintenance training program (can be a combination of employers as long as experience is at least 6 months).

  • Ability and willingness to perform basic math functions (i.e.: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.

  • Ability and willingness to work on demand in emergency situations.

  • Able to complete all paperwork CMMS/SAP functions.
