Roger Williams University's Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team seeks a Digital Media Producer to deliver on our brand storytelling, developing content for marketing advertising and social media channels. The Digital Media Producer reports to the Marketing Manager and works closely with cross-functional MarCom teams to create high-quality posts, reels, shorts, photos, video, audio, and graphic content for social media, websites, templates, and other digital platforms.
We are looking for an enthusiastic content producer excited to attend events, engage with students, and capture the significant moments of the RWU academic year and student life. This position is on-site and requires a daily presence on campus, with some evenings and weekends included. The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience in YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc. Must be self-motivated, passionate about growing subscribers and followers, and driven to develop an editorial calendar that enhances the performance of the university's primary social media channels.
Essential Functions/Characteristics
Ability to work individually in a fast-paced environment.
Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Demonstrate understanding and sensitivity to inclusive branding and the diverse backgrounds of the RWU community, including cultural, ethnic, gender, national citizenship, sexual orientation, religious, and socioeconomic traits and preferences.
Contribute to the overall success of MarCom by being an active and positive team member, contributing to team meetings with energy, and being a positive member of the RWU community.
Adhere to the technical, branding, and style standards of the university.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, plan, and execute multimedia content, including video, audio, podcasts, photography, and graphic assets for university communications, templates, campaigns, and events.
Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create digital content that aligns with the university's messaging, brand, and goals.
Edit and produce videos (short-form), ensuring they meet brand standards and are optimized for multiple platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
Manage the production process from concept to completion, including scripting, shooting, editing, and distribution.
Assist in managing the university's YouTube and other media channels, optimizing content for engagement and growth.
Manage the social media team of interns to produce timely, relevant, live content to support engagement and brand awareness.
Stay current on digital media trends and suggest new ways to innovate and improve content production and distribution.
Lead team discussions and collaborations regarding the ideation for social media posts and share insightful trends and potential opportunities.
Develop and deliver an editorial calendar for the University's primary social media channels.
Share metrics, gather data, report outcomes to the CMO regularly on audience engagement, and develop recommendations for future action based on the gathered information.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Digital Media, Communications, Film/Video Production, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of experience in digital media production, preferably in a marketing or communications setting.
Proficiency in creative production software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Rush), graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva), Hootsuite, and audio editing tools.
Familiarity with current digital marketing trends in YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and the ability to adapt to new platforms and technologies.
Creative vision with a keen eye for detail, storytelling, and audience engagement.
Experience with video equipment, including cameras, lighting, and sound.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Preferred Skills:
Marketing writing for the web is a plus.
Experience in higher education marketing or working within a university setting.
Motion graphics and animation skills are a plus.
Knowledge of SEO best practices for video and digital content.
Drone certification is a plus.
