About this opportunity:

Cenovus Commercial Downstream has a great opportunity for a VP, Refining Supply & Optimization in Columbus, OH, with potential consideration for Houston, TX. This role reports to the Downstream Commercial SVP and plays a crucial role in optimizing our Downstream value chain. As a senior leader in this area, you will develop monthly optimization plans for each refining asset, manage short-term optimizations, and secure crudes for refineries through Trading across our US and Canada sites.

What you'll do:


  • Production planning and short-term optimization

  • Crude trading for refining supply across the US

  • Collaborate with the Downstream Leadership team, Commercial management team, Calgary Committee members, and forums, as well as commercial teams and other departments within the Downstream Commercial organization

  • Focus on refining supply and optimization of operations in the US and Canada

  • Crude selection for US refineries

  • Coordinate the purchase of crude supplied to Cenovus refineries and lead all aspects of optimizing a large volume of product annually

  • Maximize gross margin and crack capture across the Cenovus downstream value chain


Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering

  • 20+ years of experience in refining and/or supply, trading, or optimization roles


Preferred:

  • Master's degree

  • 25+ years of experience

  • Deep understanding of refining processes and improving the margin capture for each asset

  • Comprehensive knowledge of supply, trading, optimization, marketing, logistics activities, and business planning

  • Appreciation for LP (linear programming) modeling and marginal economic analysis

  • Proven leadership experience, with a record of leading direct and indirect teams of 10+

  • Outstanding critical thinking capabilities to understand commercial and operational risks and rewards in decision-making, coupled with a high level of collaborator engagement and collaboration.
