Description: Our metals manufacturing client that has been in business for 50+ years is currently seeking a Extrusion Supervisor for their operations not far from New Orleans. To qualify for this role you must have experience with Aluminum extrusion and be willing to work a 3pm-11pm Monday to Friday shift. This is a union plant so they would also like someone who has experience working with union employees.
This is a salaried role but there is also regularly the chance for work on Saturdays and you would be paid for a full days work on that 6th day. Relocation assistance is being offered and there is a discretionary bonus.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase productivity of shop, department, or work crew.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains time and production records.
Requisitions materials.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Performs activities of workers supervised.
Follows safe work procedures
Qualifications & Requirements:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training.
Experience with manufacturing and quality systems and their applications in a production environment
Must have experience dealing with Aluminum extrusion
Knowledge of customer engineering, quality and delivery requirements,
Understanding of OSHA and other applicable laws,
A proven record of continuous improvement in quality, productivity, safety, and housekeeping, and computer literacy strongly desired.
