An internship is a temporary position within Solventum. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment during the summer of 2025. This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.

The Impact You'll Make in this Role

We are seeking a talented innovator, self-starter, critical-thinker, collaborator, and enthusiastic engineer to join our team in Dental Solutions. Our purpose is lifelong oral health for all by connecting advanced materials with data science for better patient outcomes. You will be performing product design and development activities for new orthodontic products. Responsibilities include developing creative solutions to design challenges, ensuring proper engineering principles are followed and documented, generating 3D CAD models, and meeting schedule and product release plans. This individual will work closely with other engineers, designers, manufacturing, marketing, and regulatory staff to assure specifications are met with technically strong, high quality, cost effective designs following a defined development process. As a mechanical/biomedical engineering intern, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Developing the next generation of orthodontic products and solutions

  • Applying engineering principles, concepts, theories and techniques to solve problems related to product design and manufacturing

  • Contributing to manufacturing process development to improve product quality

  • Identifying and pursuing critical issues to ensure the success of our projects

  • Documenting and effectively communicating methods and results to cross functional laboratory, manufacturing, quality, and business teams

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in junior or senior year in mechanical or biomedical engineering from an accredited institution

AND

In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:

  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD course work or internship experience considered

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Experience with additive manufacturing processes

  • Interest in dental and orthodontic products

  • Clear communication skills and effective working in a collaborative team environment

  • A self-starter in identifying what is critical, with attention to detail and scientific rigor

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.)after 90 days employment.
