The Driver Trainee Program consist of 5 to 6 week of DOT driving training with the Driver Trainer/Mentor. The Training will include training on operating a Tractor to transport cargo to and from specified destinations (customer location, airports or trucking terminals) in a safe and efficient manner. The Training Program will consist of hands-on tractor-trailer driving training and is applicable for recent CDL School graduates that have under 6 months driving experience. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values


WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?


Main areas of focus and accountability of the role:



  • Pre-Trip Inspections
  • Loading Procedures
  • Unloading
  • Back up to the dock
  • Perform walk around inspections
  • High Way Operations - Be familiar with the loading locations
  • City and Rural Driving
  • Tight Right and Left Turns


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?


Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be twenty-one years of age or older.
  • Acceptable driving record as defined by DOT regulations, TSA regulations and Company policy. Must meet the physical requirements established by the DOT and have or be able to provide a current valid medical card
  • Minimum one year industry experience preferred


Skills:
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to operate a dolly, forklift, hand trucks, lift-gate and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs.
  • Ability to understand highway traffic signals and signs.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents.
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations. •
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Consistently at work and on-time
