Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

TranSystems’ Charleston, SC office has an immediate opening for a Structural/Bridge Engineer. This position includes inspection of bridges along with the preparation of inspection reports. Responsible for data entry into the South Carolina Department of Transportation Bridge Management System. Looking for a technical individual, team oriented with strong communication skills. Day to day assignments and technical guidance will be provided by current staff.

 

General Duties & Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


  • Assists others in analyzing information and data to perform inspection/design tasks.

  • Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Engineers as to the general results expected.

  • Responsible for accuracy of reports,  quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and efficient conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards.

  • Maintains project database by writing computer programs; entering and backing up data.

  • Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project schedule, scope or additional services.

 

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • Ability to clearly describe observations and convey information with sketches and technical writing.

  • Bachelors degree with a concentration in engineering from an ABET-accredited university or college

  • Individuals should have experience in reading plans and shop drawings

  • Team oriented engineer with strong communication skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Suite and Bentley MicroStation

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:


  • The preferred candidate will have a structural engineering background, knowledge of Microstation, and some experience with structural engineering design drawings, specifications and cost estimates.

  • No relocation assistance - Local candidates preferred.

  • SCDOT bridge consulting and/or construction services experience and/or experience with bridge engineering/inspection in SC is a plus.

  • Intimate experience with Microsoft Excel including basic programming ability

  • Completion of the Engineering-in-Training exam is strongly encouraged.
