Position Summary



We are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development with a strong background in pre-clinical and clinical services, specifically from Contract Research Organizations (CROs). In this role, you will drive business growth by establishing strategic partnerships and expanding our client base in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO industries. Your focus will be on generating revenue through client satisfaction, retention, renewals, and expanding both new and existing business. You will also develop and execute strategic account plans while coordinating with internal teams to deliver solutions that meet client needs.


Our portfolio includes a complete offering of solutions to support regulatory submissions including sample management and processing, multiomics analysis, and reporting in a GCP/GLP environment.



Responsibilities





  • Business Development Strategy: Develop and implement business development strategies to grow the pre-clinical and clinical services division, identifying new opportunities and markets for growth.

  • Client Acquisition and Relationship Management: Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities by building and maintaining strong relationships with key decision-makers in biotech, pharmaceutical, and CRO companies.

  • Sales Targets and Revenue Growth: Achieve revenue and business development targets by expanding the client portfolio and building long-term partnerships.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (project management, marketing, scientific experts) to ensure alignment of client needs with service offerings, and ensure the successful delivery of projects.

  • Market Analysis: Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify trends, emerging opportunities, and potential clients in the pre-clinical and clinical space.

  • Contract Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms that align with company objectives while addressing client needs.

  • Customer Support: Provide high-level support to clients, ensuring that their project requirements are met and addressing any concerns promptly.

  • Attend Conferences and Networking Events: Represent the company at industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows to enhance brand visibility and attract new clients.




Qualifications





  • Education: Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, MSc, PhD) is preferred.

  • Industry Experience: 7+ years of business development experience within pre-clinical and clinical services, preferably with Contract research Organizations - CROs.

  • Sales and Negotiation Skills: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and successfully closing deals in the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors.

  • Scientific and Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the drug development process, from discovery through clinical trials, and familiarity with pre-clinical and clinical research services.

  • Relationship Building: Strong network of contacts within the pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO industries, with the ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with company goals.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and compelling manner.

  • Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams, fostering a team-oriented culture.

  • Experience managing business development for global accounts or multi-national companies.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors.

  • Familiarity with digital and data-driven solutions in clinical research.




Working Conditions/ Schedule





  • Location: close to a major airport in continental US. Candidate within < 1-hour driving distance of major biotech hub in the United States such as Boston, San Francisco, San Diego, Philadelphia, New York, or New Jersey will have a preference.

  • Willing and able to travel overnight up to 50% within the United States as required for customer meetings, internal business meetings, seminars, and conference.
