The Director of Billing and Collections oversees our billing department and optimizes revenue cycle management for our EMS services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare billing, exceptional leadership skills, and a commitment to maximizing collections while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Duties/Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies to optimize the EMS billing process and improve collections efficiency.
Lead and mentor the billing and collections team, providing guidance and support to meet departmental goals.
Monitor billing activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
Analyze billing data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and revenue enhancement.
Collaborate with EMS leadership, including operations and clinical teams, to streamline billing workflows and resolve billing-related issues.
Establish and maintain relationships with payers, including insurance companies and government agencies, to facilitate claims processing and resolve disputes.
Prepare regular reports and presentations on billing and collections performance for senior management.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field; master's degree preferred.
Experience in healthcare billing and collections management, preferably in an EMS or ambulance service setting.
Strong knowledge of healthcare billing regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid guidelines.
Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing a team.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex billing data and trends.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in healthcare billing software and other office software, such as RescueNet, Waystar, Crystal Reports, Payspan, Five9, and Microsoft Office
Preferred Requirements
Experience with Big Four (public) accounting
Master's Degree or MBA
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license
