JOB TITLE: Weld Program Administrator

REPORTS TO: Weld Program Manager

PAY RANGE: $75,000 - $90,000/Annualy DOE

SUMMARY

Assisting in implementing & managing the IMIA welding program to include all locations where work is performed. Determine welding methods required to support work and direct development of welding procedures. Provide oversite of entire welding program to ensure workmanship and certification of welders meets current requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Administer welding and brazing qualification testing along with Welder Workmanship training. Maintain a current list of all personnel weld qualification and limitations.
  • Assist with oversight on IMIA shop production and shop personnel.
  • Develop and provide Non-NDT Structural testing training to Structural personnel that perform the required tests in coordination with Engineer/Planner.
  • Assist with the development of training as needed for all Structural Department trades.
  • Prepare weld program for audits, surveillances, and evaluations as required by specified SOP’s.
  • Assist wit the development of structural testing and process SOPs for all structural repair items currently working and planned for future work.
  • Assist planning as needed to develop and review work packages.
  • As needed and in coordination with the IMIA Structural Engineer ensure that all Structural Non-NDT Testing Equipment meets all requirements and is in good working order and is available to the projects as needed, Such as:
    • Hydrostatic Test Equipment, Vacuum Boxes, Air Hose Test Equipment, Completion Air Test Equipment, Weight Testing Equipment, associated calibrated equipment used to perform I and G-point structural inspections
  • Verify base materials and filler materials upon delivery.
  • Interviewing and hiring structural team personnel.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Provide oversite of entire Welding Program at all locations. Provide guidance for Project Managers/Superintendents in the administration of the program and in support of all IMIA projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive knowledge of NAVSEA requirements in Tech Pub 248
  • Experience with SMAW, FCAW, GTAW and GMAW welding highly preferred
  • Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities and have a dependable work ethic
  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form including but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office applications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate, or GED
  • Have high level of knowledge in welding processes and NAVSEA Tech Pub 248

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Within the shipyard, minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery
  • Most work performed in shop/office environment. Some travel required
