Description: Our client is currently seeking a Sr Project Manager on a 12+ month contract out of Long Beach, CA
12+ month contract
Overview: Oversees and manages large-scale, cross-functional programs and/or multiple medium to complex projects from initiation through completion under very limited supervision as directed by IT Management and Project Sponsor and/or Senior Executive Team.
Responsibilities:
Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close large-scale, cross-functional and/or multiple medium to complex projects and/or programs.
Manage several unrelated projects simultaneously.
Utilize PMO project methodology, tools, and templates to uphold project-to-project consistency and excellence.
Gather business requirements, current state assessments, and project requirements to develop preliminary project documents.
Manage activities within all PMBOK knowledge areas including integration, scope, time/schedule development, cost, quality planning, project team, communications, risk, and procurement.
Lead the work of 1-20 project team members in a matrixed environment.
Motivate and ensure project team active participation, collaboration, and coordination.
Monitor and control all aspects of the project, ensuring it remains on timeline and budget.
Escalate risks and/or issues to IT Management and steering committee as needed.
Prepare project communications including status reports, dashboards, and other materials.
Facilitate internal and/or external meetings and provide guidance to project personnel.
Document Request for Proposals (RFPs) and coordinate related documentation.
Maintain positive relationships within business units and promote collaboration.
Work with all levels of the organization from line staff to senior executive team.
Ensure all project documentation is completed and filed/stored according to IT SDLC and r
Collaborate with the PMO leader to ensure governance and process standards are followed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 8 years of work experience in project management; 10 years preferred.
4-6 years of experience in the healthcare industry preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading the work of 1-20 project team members in a matrixed environment.
Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Demonstrated capability of strategic thinking and planning for short- and long-range goals.
Proven self-starter with excellent organizational characteristics.
Ability to manage several unrelated projects simultaneously.
Ability to develop and maintain positive internal relationships and promote collaboration.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and MS Project Professional.
Adaptable to changes in priorities and assignments quickly and efficiently.
