Job Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing and coordinating all shipping and receiving tasks. This includes ensuring accurate, timely, and organized shipments, receiving deliveries, inspecting the quantity and quality of items received, and keeping accurate records. This role is essential in supporting smooth supply chain operations and maintaining inventory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping Duties:
Prepare, pack, and label outbound shipments according to specifications.
Verify orders and ensure items are packed accurately and securely.
Coordinate with shipping carriers for pickups, including scheduling and handling any required documentation.
Track shipments to ensure timely delivery to customers or distribution centers.
Address shipping discrepancies and communicate any issues with relevant teams.
Receiving Duties:
Receive incoming shipments, inspect goods for damage, and verify contents against purchase orders.
Record and report any discrepancies, shortages, or damage to items received.
Sort, tag, and store items in designated areas within the warehouse.
Ensure accurate logging of all received items in inventory management systems.
Coordinate with the purchasing and quality control departments as needed.
Inventory Management:
Maintain organized records of shipments and deliveries.
Conduct regular inventory counts to ensure stock accuracy.
Track and report any low stock levels or discrepancies to management.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare shipping documents, bills of lading, and any necessary paperwork for customs or compliance.
Keep detailed logs and records of all transactions.
Provide regular status updates and reports on shipping and receiving activities.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all company policies and safety regulations.
Ensure that shipping and receiving areas are organized, clean, and free of hazards.
Comply with legal and company requirements related to shipping and inventory management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in logistics or warehousing is a plus.
Prior experience in shipping, receiving, or warehousing preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management software.
Ability to lift and move heavy packages as needed.
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
