The Systems Engineering Manager plans, organizes, and leads the Systems Engineering group to achieve Company objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides leadership and direction to the Systems Engineering group (comprised of systems and certification engineers) to successfully meet department and Company goals
Key member of the Company’s engineering leadership team and helps to provide cohesive leadership to the entire Company by working effectively with peers and cross-functional teams
Ensures all Systems Engineering activities meet quality, cost, and schedule to achieve corporate objectives
Ensures all Systems Engineering activities are in conformance with organization's established policies
Ensures innovative systems and processes are identified and implemented to enhance Company’s future
Provides intra-departmental Systems Engineering support throughout the organization
Coaches and develops System Engineers to be technical professionals
Writes and reviews System Engineering policies and procedures
Develops system architectures, requirements compliance matrices, and other system documentation in support of proposals and development projects
Proposes and ensures all Systems Engineering expenditures meet budgetary constraints
Conducts performance evaluations, plans salary actions, recommends hires and promotions, anticipates, and plans for skills and human resource requirements and develops staff to meet those needs
Interprets and applies organization policies and provides leadership toward resolving employee problems
Conducts oneself in accordance with Company’s Core Values

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and 10 years of relevant engineering experience in aviation, or an advanced degree and seven years of relevant experience in aviation
A minimum of three years of engineering management experience
Experience with aircraft electrical/mechanical system definition, modification, and installation
Experience with defining system requirements and their flow through the life cycle of the system.
Experience with demonstrating compliance to Federal Aviation Regulations, with a preference for 14 CFR Part 29 experience
Effectively coordinates requirements with engineering leadership and other internal customers
Ability to write and review Company policies and procedures
Ability to coach and develop technical professionals of all experience levels
Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills to present ideas, concepts, and proposals to audiences at all levels effectively
Must demonstrate commitment, vision, and a tenacity to drive assignments to completion
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications

Experience with project planning for technically complex projects
Experience with systems safety assessments
Experience with functional hazard assessment
Experience with human factors analysis
Experience with systems integration and testing
Experience with environmental testing
Experience with service documentation
Experience as a Designated Engineering Representative
