This position offers the unique opportunity to join a diverse and successful team of PJM engineers and business analysts to support the PJM Generation Interconnection process that is driven by system generation needs, including state renewable integration policies, through the evaluation of generation interconnection requests. Through frequent coordination with the generation owners, business developers and the owners of the transmission system, Interconnection Analysis Engineers gain a broad and valuable understanding of the bulk transmission system, generation interconnection process and renewable resource integration industry.
Interconnection Analysis engineers leverage technical analysis of the power system, coordination with generation developers and collaboration with the system transmission owners to promote the development of improved and emerging generation and transmission technologies, including renewable wind and solar. Interconnection Analysis engineers have an in-depth working knowledge of power system analysis, PJM's tariffs and agreements, planning criteria and operating policies as they affect planning, operation and analysis of the PJM system.

Essential Functions:
In support of PJM’s Vision and Mission, the Engineer, Interconnection Analysis will support the objectives that affect the Interconnection Planning Department and the System Planning Division power system analysis activities.
Coordinate with the Interconnection Analysis Department Project Management team to coordinate studies and provide information necessary for the development of necessary reports.
Communicate and coordinate with Transmission Owners and Generation Developers, including wind and solar, as needed to perform studies and develop reports.
Conduct or coordinate thermal, voltage, short circuit, and dynamic analyses of PJM’s transmission network.
Apply sound engineering judgment to create innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
Communicate and coordinate with Transmission Owners and Developers as needed to perform studies and develop reports.
Establishes a sense of urgency to complete tasks in an efficient and cost-effective manner in support of PJM, Division, and Department goals.
Recognized as a problem solver that proactively addresses customer needs and reliability requirements with innovative, creative, and cost effective solutions.
Other responsibilities and duties as necessary to support the work of PJM and the System Planning Division.
Characteristics & Qualifications:
Required:
BS degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
0-5 years experience with Power system technologies such as power flow voltage studies, thermal studies, short circuit studies, dynamic stability studies
Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail
Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
Ability to use mathematical and electrical theory
Ability to troubleshoot and provide technical support
Preferred
MS, Engineering, MBA or BS degree in Power Systems Engineering
Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions
Experience using PSS/e (power system analysis program)
