Annual Salary Range: $84,636 - $152,566

Job Summary
As a Mechanical Engineer (Construction and Maintenace) at BPMI, you will advance the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) toward the goals of reducing maintenance and emergent repair spans on nuclear power plant components installed in submarines and aircraft carriers for the US Navy. Engineers in the Construction and Maintenance unit will work closely with teams across BPMI, Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), shipyards, and NAVSEA to refine and execute improvement strategies in the areas of Construction and Maintenance.
Essential Duties:
Develop and implement technologies to streamline fleet maintenance of BPMI equipment and promote the design for maintainability paradigm.
Formulate and execute strategies to transition the NNPP to a condition-informed maintenance approach.
Develop BPMI strategies to enable timely execution of emergent electrical and mechanical repairs.
Develop and implement a strategy to increase shipyard flexibility toward hardware maintenance and upgrades to enable completion of field changes within 1-year availabilities.
Investigate the causes of regular hardware failures in the existing fleet and develop a strategy and/or technical solution to prevent or mitigate the impact of recurrence.
Build connections and relationships across the Program, industry, and external partners to champion innovative solutions and programs that support improvement strategies in the areas of Construction and Maintenance.
Duties will include the following: formulating chartering actions and program plans, obtaining stakeholder buy-in and NAVSEA approval of these plans; collaborating with equipment departments and shipyards to contract for development and implementation of construction and maintenance technologies and strategies; surveying industry and identifying new vendors/partners to accelerate the transition to a condition informed maintenance approach.

Minimum Job Requirements:
B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Minimum (4) years of relevant experience.
Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Experience leading multi-disciplined technical and project teams across multiple organizations.
Experience with supplier management and contract execution.
General knowledge of fleet maintenance work.
Broad knowledge of BPMI components.
Experience in developing and tracking high level project plans.
Experience with briefing executive level stakeholders within and outside BPMI.
Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Office, SharePoint.
Familiarity with Microsoft Project, or other project management software.
