Program/Fellowship Description

Meridian's External Affairs Department is responsible for maintaining relationships with Meridian's external audiences, organizational communications, and cultivating development opportunities. The team comprises several arms including institutional advancement, institutional programs, corporate relations, the executive office, and communications. Meridian's External Affairs team strategically engages stakeholders and philanthropic partners from across Meridian's domestic and global networks, curating impactful programming and special events across Meridian's centers. The External Affairs Fellow will provide logistical support for events and programs, assemble materials for programs, create briefing memos for upcoming donor meetings and events, support in prospecting potential donors, draft communications, and other written tasks as needed by the team.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

· Support the development and implementation of external and institutional advancement events by developing briefing materials and providing research for proposals.

· Staff events and support administrative tasks in the leadup, such as tracking RSVPs and creating nametags, and writing summaries for the Meridian website.

· Research and draft donor profiles for senior leadership regarding event attendees, philanthropic partners, or potential new supporters.

· Maintenance of the Salesforce database to support donor engagement, event management, and external and institutional affairs prospecting.

· Manage donor and event communications, which includes drafting, sending, and tracking solicitation letters, gift acknowledgements, mailings, and invoices.

· Develop reports on financial positions, memberships, prospective donors, mailing lists, and event invitation status.??

· Update and track all external affairs and donor events in the master internal calendar, external calendar, and website.

· Complete all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner.

· Participation in Fellowship cohort activities.

· Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications/Requirements:

· Commit 25-29 hours per week to the Fellowship

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams is necessary for this role; Experience with Zoom and Salesforce is helpful

· Strong interest in public diplomacy, event management, stakeholder engagement, fundraising, and international relations.

· Proven initiative and strong interpersonal skills, especially in a professional setting

· Superb organizational skills and attention to detail

· Strong writing skills

· Interest in working within a diverse work environment
