What You’ll Do:

  • Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and regulatory requirements for both parent and subsidiary organizations.
  • Reviews monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
  • Analyzes account information and reconciles financial discrepancies in balance sheets and profit and loss statements.
  • Prepares the monthly and quarterly balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other special reports. Identifies trends and makes recommendations for areas of higher impact to the organization.
  • Oversees annual audit process and all other financial audits required by grant agencies.
  • Complies with federal, state, and grant financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
  • Provides assistance and direction to the AP Supervisor and ensures that accounts payable are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manages the filing of required tax and cost reports.
  • Oversees and ensures processes are in place to track grant costs according to contract and submit reports and billings. Assists other managers with understanding financial requirements of grants.
  • Provides executive management with monthly review of organization's financial status.
  • Assists in the corporate annual budgeting and planning process and prepares budgets for assigned divisions of the organization. Reviews budget and expenditure reports for accuracy and identifies trends and potential problems. Meets with Program Directors and Clinic Administrators to review budgets and financial performance.
  • Implements, documents and maintains effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Responsible for configuration and ongoing set up needs for the accounting software system.
  • Maintains internal controls and safeguards for receipt of revenue, program budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Coaches, mentors and trains direct report staff. Provides continuous performance management and conducts employee performance evaluations. Addresses performance and/or behavior issues, clarifying expectations and providing feedback.
  • Supports staff growth and development. Assesses the educational and experience needs of all levels of staff in collaboration with the individual. Encourages staff to seek educational opportunities incorporating job related training in addition to mandatory training.
  • Participates in the recruitment and selection of staff. Provides orientation to outline job requirements and expectations, policies and procedures, and proper use of tools and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration. Associates of Arts with 4 years accounting experience may substitute for Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration preferred.
  • Experience: Five years progressive experience in public and/or private Accounting, including management of accounting systems. Must include two years' experience supervising a team. A Master’s Degree in a related field will substitute for two years' required experience.
  • Professional Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required or Preferred: Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry specific regulations such as Office of Management Budget (OMB) Super Circular. Ability to analyze and interpret grant contracts and implement the financial requirements. Strong technical accounting background and the ability to create operations which provide accurate and timely transactions and financial information. Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to analyze complex data and communicate observations in a simplified manner. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Skills in problem-solving, sound judgement. Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Strong organization skills. Strong management, leadership, and communication skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Advanced proficiency with Excel with knowledge of how to use formulas and pivot tables. Intermediate proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Outlook and Word. Proficiency with Epicor and UltiPro preferred.
