JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Knowledge Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the creation, management, and dissemination of critical information within a healthcare organization, driving efficiency and informed decision-making through comprehensive knowledge management strategies. This role ensures critical information is accurate, accessible, and effectively utilized by healthcare professionals and staff. Key responsibilities include overseeing content management systems, integrating data from various sources, and facilitating knowledge sharing across departments. By maintaining a seamless flow of knowledge and ensuring its effective use, the Knowledge Manager supports the organization in achieving optimal healthcare outcomes and operational excellence.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement knowledge management strategies and policies to support organizational goals and improve healthcare delivery.
  • Oversee the creation, organization, and maintenance of knowledge repositories, including clinical guidelines, best practices, and other critical healthcare documentation.
  • Ensure integration of knowledge systems with clinical and operational data sources for comprehensive and actionable information.
  • Facilitate the distribution of knowledge resources across the organization, ensuring that relevant information reaches the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Work with healthcare professionals, IT teams, and other departments to gather and share knowledge, and support the development of best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on knowledge management systems and best practices.
  • Ensure the accuracy, relevance, and quality of knowledge content and systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of knowledge management processes and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure that knowledge management practices comply with healthcare regulations and standards, including data privacy laws and accreditation requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong understanding of knowledge management principles, practices, and tools.
  • Experience with knowledge management systems, content management systems (CMS), and other relevant technologies.
  • Ability to integrate and manage information from various data sources and ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for creating clear, accessible knowledge resources and delivering training.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate knowledge management processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with cross-functional teams, including healthcare professionals and IT staff.
  • High level of accuracy and thoroughness in managing knowledge resources.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs and technological advancements.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations, data privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA), and accreditation requirements.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical practices, and regulatory requirements.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, information management, library science, or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in knowledge management, information management, or related role within a healthcare setting.

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree healthcare administration, information management, library science, or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in knowledge management, information management, or related role within a healthcare setting.
  • Certification in knowledge management, information management, or healthcare management (e.g., Certified Knowledge Manager (CKM), Certified Healthcare Manager (CHM)).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and other clinical information systems.
  • Experience in conducting research and utilizing evidence-based practices in healthcare.
