We are currently seeking a creative, hard-working, and self-motivated Program Assistant to support our federally funded child care and early childhood education (CC/ECE) projects. The successful candidate will provide administrative and programmatic assistance to projects that provide our federal clients and their end users with information and support through training; technical assistance; resource development; information and referral services; program monitoring; process redesign; research; and evaluation. The candidate chosen will be expected to contribute to WRMA’s collaborative, collegial work environment; maintain our high ethical and quality standards; and contribute to proposals and other business development efforts. As the CC/ECE field rapidly evolves, we are looking for someone willing to learn and grow along with us.
This position is based out of WRMA’s Rockville, Maryland office but is a remote/virtual position. The candidate must have consistent, daily access to a working environment conducive to professional activities (regular video/audio meetings, tasks requiring quiet focus, etc.). Necessary hardware, software, and IT support are provided.
Responsibilities
DUTIES
Assist CC/ECE project leaders and staff in implementing each project’s work plan, tracking progress toward task completion, and resorting project results
Provide administrative, logistical, and content support for federal onsite and virtual training and technical assistance (T/TA), monitoring, and oversight efforts, including:
Remote and in-person notetaking
Drafting, reviewing, editing, and producing invitations, agendas, summaries, name badges, and other pre- and post-event meeting materials
Coordinating and supporting virtual and in-person meetings with federal staff, federal grantees, CC/ECE practitioners, parents, researchers, colleagues, clients, and the public
Providing live technical support to virtual meeting participants and users of IT systems
Supporting and/or leading literature and policy reviews and analyses of policies, processes, and qualitative and quantitative data
Assisting subject matter experts in writing, editing, and disseminating process guides, training manuals, slide decks, reports, information briefs, white papers, website content, event marketing announcements, and social media posts
Entering data into, and retrieving data from, online systems and in-house databases
As appropriate, participate in topical work teams to develop innovative solutions to challenges in the CC/ECE fields
Support coordination with other federal T/TA providers and clearinghouses
Actively remain current regarding developments and trends in the CC/ECE field and participate, as appropriate, with professional organizations
Participate in staff development activities to build knowledge and skills
Collaborate with other project staff located in various parts of the country to assure timely completion of project deliverables
Develop, with other WRMA staff, responses to requests for proposals and grant applications, as required from time to time
Participate actively in dialogue and discussions to achieve effective company-wide working relationships.
Represent WRMA to internal and external audiences under direction of senior staff.
Participate in the implementation of various company projects and contracts as requested.
Solve problems through initiative, information gathering, and recommending creative solutions.
Additional related duties as needed.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES
The candidate should possess a combination of positive attitude, strong work ethic, education, technical skills, subject matter knowledge, and the ability to build productive professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Candidate should have:
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, human development, social work, education, psychology, public policy, public administration, sociology, nutrition, or a related field; degrees in progress will be considered
Some experience in child care/early childhood education, with the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), or with another federally funded early childhood education or human services programs such as Head Start, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or child welfare
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with virtual meeting software such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, a plus
Strong writing and editing skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to contribute effectively to multiple projects simultaneously
Successful experience working effectively with persons from diverse cultural, social, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds
Strong skills in communicating with a wide range of audiences; public speaking experience, a plus
Educational or professional experience working remotely, a plus
Dual language fluency, particularly Spanish/English, a plus

TRAVEL: This is a remote position, and travel (25% or less) is required.
PROMOTION POTENTIAL Program Associate
SALARY
Salary is determined commensurate with experience of the candidate. Benefits include health insurance, holidays, and vacation benefits for all full-time employees of 30 or more hours. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $90,000 per year. While we provide competitive compensation, it's important to note that for new hires, salaries typically align with the lower end of the range, taking into account factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
