Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, self-driven and energetic individual to join our Electrical Engineering team at our San Diego design facility. You will become a member of Illumina's award-winning team doing cutting-edge development of sequencing instruments - and enjoy a fast-paced dynamic environment and a culture of open communication and mutual respect! The Electrical Engineering team defines, develops, and commercializes our designs for new, industry-leading sequencing instruments for life sciences and clinical markets.

Responsibilities:


  • Work with external ASIC design house in design and development of mixed-signal circuits with the focus on the ultra-low signal analog circuit design

  • Develop and implement test plans for mixed-signal circuits, ensuring functionality and performance meet specifications.

  • Manage relationships with design and fabrication suppliers, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines

  • Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams to define system requirements and design specifications and ensure seamless integration of all subsystems.

  • Collaborate with project management to ensure the successful execution of projects from concept to production.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers.

Requirements:


  • Extensive experience in mixed-signal circuit design, with a focus on ultra-low signal analog circuits.

  • Experience in embedded systems design

  • Proficiency in ASIC simulation tools, and PCB design tools.

  • Proven leadership experience in guiding engineering teams.

Preferred:


  • Familiarity with FPGA design, simulation and implementation.

  • Knowledge of low-power design techniques.

  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, C++) for automation and analysis.

Education:

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field with 15+ years experience or PhD with 8+ industry experience

The estimated base salary range for the Principal Electrical Engineer role based in the United States of America is: $152,600 - $228,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
