Job Summary:
SCA maintains of fleet of sweepers, dump trucks, flatbed trucks, pickup trucks, trailers, attenuators, and various other support equipment. The Mechanic position is a mid-level mechanic position with opportunity for advancement. Work will include preventative maintenance and light repairs of various chassis manufacturers and up fit configurations.

Job Responsibilities:
Maintain the cleanliness of trucks and support equipment
Maintain cleanliness and safety of the shop and yard
Maintain accurate records of each repair performed
Perform chassis preventative maintenance and light repairs to chassis and up fit components
Assist senior mechanics with advanced repairs
Change tires
Complete basic inspections and associated repairs
Work performed in outdoor environments and exposure to variable and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Job Requirements:
2-5 years of mechanic experience or recent trade school graduate
Heavy Diesel Equipment Experience, Required
Experience with Hydraulics, Required
Experience with Welding, Required
Toolbox and basic hand tools, Required
Ability to perform standard chassis PM services (fluid and filter changes and grease components)
Ability to perform basic inspections and complete basic repairs
Ability and willingness to assist higher level mechanics and perform repairs under their supervision
Have a valid driver’s license, required
Have a valid Commercial Drivers License, preferred
Have or willing to obtain a DOT Physical, Required
Experience working on heavy equipment, Required
Willingness to learn and have a positive attitude
Consistent attendance
Use all required PPE and work safely
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work a flexible schedule, including overtime on occasion
Work in high noise environments with exposure to vibration and fumes
Active, physical work occasionally involving lifting 50 lbs. Frequently involves carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching and standing
Requirements & Skills
Minimum of XX years of proven experience as a Mechanic
Level A = 8+
Level B = 5-7
Level C = 2-4
Strong knowledge of machinery, hydraulic, electrical, and other mechanical systems
Skilled in using hand tools, shop tools, and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers)
Ability to follow established procedures, read instruction manuals, and wiring schematics
Must have basic hand tools for daily use
Commitment to adhering to health and safety regulations
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Strong physical stamina and good overall fitness
Positive attitude and reliable attendance
High school diploma preferred; certification from a vocational school or apprenticeship is a plus
ASE certifications are preferred but not required
