Job Description:

Kroll is seeking an experienced Vice President for public relations professional with expertise in financial and professional services to join the Communications team. Reporting to the Global Head of Corporate Communications, this role supports regional external communications and public relations in the US. The ideal candidate is a talented writer and storyteller, responsible for shaping and driving the firm's US media strategy, building and maintaining relationships with key media outlets and ensuring Kroll's stories, thought leadership and insights are effectively communicated to the public.

This position will be hybrid 3 days a week in our New York located at the World Trade Center.

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

Media Relations:


  • Partner w/internal and external stakeholders to deliver a comprehensive US media relations strategy that aligns with Kroll's business objectives and supports the firm's brand narrative
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with top-tier national, regional and industry-specific journalists, editors and influencers in key cities nationwide
  • Collaborate with the communications team and external agencies to develop press releases, media pitches and other communications materials that highlight the firm's expertise, business objectives, projects and thought leadership
  • Lead crises communications efforts as needed, and in partnership with the global head of corporate communications, ensuring the firm's messaging is managed effectively during sensitive or challenging situations
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of internal spokespeople in full alignment with business priorities, marketing priorities, and Kroll's policies/procedures
  • Track media coverage and analyze the impact of media efforts. Provide regular reports and recommendations regarding media trends and opportunities
  • Support public relations efforts around key Kroll events, conference and speaking engagements, ensuring appropriate media presence and coverage
  • Collaborate with internal partners across leadership, marketing and communications to ensure consistency across all public-facing messages and campaigns.


Agency Management:
  • Manage US PR agency relationships, ensuring alignment with Kroll's business objectives and marketing efforts

Crisis Communications:

  • With the global head of corporate communications, serve as regional lead during crises, ensuring that cross-functional response and executive teams have support and training and that urgent media opportunities are professionally handled
  • Develop and maintain a crisis communications plan for proactive and reactive issues in collaboration with key leaders across US and the corporate business. Provide counsel to senior executives in US on communications-related initiatives and issues.
  • Conduct regular risk audits to prepare for potential situations that could impact the company's reputation.


Content Development:

  • Write and edit content for various channels, including press announcements, ad-hoc regional executive communications, FAQs, and other materials, such as blogs and insights articles
  • Develop and distribute US-related press releases, from draft through corporate approvals, translations, distribution, and promotion.


Internal Collaboration:

  • Maintain strong working relationships across Kroll's internal cross-functional teams and executives to identify and generate compelling media stories that make an impact.
  • Serve as a thought partner and Communications team liaison to regional teams including Sales, Marketing, and Service-line leaders


Performance Measurement:

  • Establish and track KPIs to measure the effectiveness of PR campaigns and media relations activities.
  • Prepare regular reports on PR activities, media coverage, and campaign performance for senior management.

Qualifications:


  • 7-10 + years of proven experience in public relations, preferably within the US market
  • Exceptional project management and time management abilities, must be able to balance demanding workflows and deliver on tight deadlines for complex communications campaigns.
  • Positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to network within a highly matrixed global organization and maintain collaborative relationship.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills; superior verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in crisis communications and risk management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in using PR and media monitoring tools such as Cision and Meltwater.
  • Proven writing and editing skills; proficiency in AP Style is a plus!

The current salary range for this position is $70,000 to $200,000
