Senior Accountant - Manufacturing Industry - Direct Hire
Location: St. Paul - On Site
Salary: Up to $90K - depending on experience
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the St. Paul area. This is a hands-on leadership role and will oversee two accounting team members while supporting financial operations across multiple locations.
The ideal candidate will have minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting, tax filing, inventory management, sales & use tax, commission calculations and the ability to work in a fast-paced, manual-process environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide leadership and support to accounting team members, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes.
* Oversee accounts receivable and manage collections efforts to maintain cash flow.
* Act as a backup to the Director of Accounting, stepping in during absences to maintain continuity.
* Manage freight-related accounting, including tracking accrued expenses, broker income, sales commissions, and rebate reconciliations.
* Support inventory management across multiple locations by overseeing transfers, conducting monthly reconciliations of raw materials and WIP inventory, and coordinating quarterly finished goods counts.
* Ensure compliance with tax regulations by preparing and filing sales and use tax returns.
* Process customer transactions, including sales invoicing, issuing credit memos, and reviewing/approving customer credits.
* Reconcile and track various expenses, including credit card transactions, employee expense reports, prepaid expenses, and asset management.
* Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and necessary adjustments.
* Maintain and update financial records such as fixed asset tracking, depreciation schedules, and raw material invoices.
* Oversee the preparation and submission of 1099 forms and Form 1096, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Associate's required).
* 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with expertise in AP/AR, month-end closing, accruals, sales & use tax, commission calculations, reconciliations, and inventory management.
* Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.
* Strong proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and financial modeling.
* Familiarity with accounting software (experience with Business Central is a plus).
* Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
* Experience in a manufacturing environment, including tax preparation and inventory reconciliation.
