REQUIREMENT
Our Flight Safety Program Manager (FAA) is our primary liaison with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Office of Commercial Space (AST). Those who will excel at this role are fans of the new commercial space industry, and are interested in ensuring its safety through an efficient and effective regulatory process.
The role requires managing technical personnel engaged in the investigation and development of policy, guidance, processes, tools, and technical analyses for the aerospace industry, which includes responsibility for end-product quality, customer reporting, and the establishment and implementation of associated schedules and budgets.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Enabling Operations: Ensure that flight safety analysis independent reviews required to maintain operational pace meet quality control, timeline, and process standards for a variety of regulatory paths.
Strategic Leadership: Lead and shape the Flight Safety Analysis end product quality reviews, aligning safety goals with overall agency objectives. Provide interface with senior aerospace agency executives to ensure execution in alignment with broad government goals.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international aerospace safety standards and regulations for the FAA and manage relationships with regulatory bodies to maintain the company’s operational approvals. Maintain schedule, cost, quality, subcontract, and communication requirements as directed by FAA.
Risk Management: Develop, maintain, and implement at an organizational level scalable and repeatable flight safety analysis methodologies that adhere to FAA independent analysis requirements. Direct the identification, assessment, and mitigation of safety risks associated with launch testing programs, identifying potential flight safety hazards, and implementing proactive measures to prevent inadvertent destruction, maintain public safety, and enable launch approvals through the usage of advanced compliance processes.
Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with ARCTOS’ trajectory, debris, and failure assessment teams, ensuring continuous improvement in safety processes and practices and timely delivery of process inputs. Manage any subcontracts needed to enable flight safety analysis data development.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Expertise: Understanding of flight safety analysis standards and technologies, launch safety regulations, and operational risk management within the context of launch and reentry operations.
Leadership: Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and driving safety and compliance initiatives across an organization.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, and the public.
EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the aerospace, aviation, or space industry, with at least 5 years in a senior roles focused on safety, compliance, or risk management.
A Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related technical field is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications is preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
US Citizenship is required.

Primary work environment is a standard office setting.
TRAVEL
Travel is limited, but if performed will be under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations and/or Joint Travel Regulations.
