Job Summary The Department of Communication in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Communication with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2025.
Qualifications & Responsibilities:Duties include teaching four courses per semester, with the potential to teach different size classes (small to large lecture). We seek a candidate with teaching experience in sport communication. Classes include Intro to Sport Communication, Social Media and Sport, Sports Analytics, and Sport Industries. Ability to teach general communication courses (persuasion, interpersonal, or organizational communication) is a plus.
The nine-month appointment begins formally August 16, 2025, and ends May 15, 2026; however some preparation work will begin Aug. 1, 2025. Initial terms for lecturers are for one year. Appointment may be renewed for additional terms based on departmental needs, funding ability, and candidate performance. A master’s degree in communication or related field is required, as is evidence of success in college-level teaching experience in the areas noted above. Professional experience is a plus.
About the Department:The Department of Communication offers a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Communication with undergraduate major options in business and organizational communication, digital and mass communication, healthcare communication, human communication, and sport communication, as well as a minor in communication and an Undergraduate Certificate in health communication.
About the College:The College of Communication and Information is composed of two schools (School of Information Science and School of Journalism and Media), two departments (Department of Communication and Department of Integrated Strategic Communication), and interdisciplinary master’s and PhD programs. Nearly 100 full-time faculty lead 2,300 undergraduate majors and 350 graduate students while also teaching in the university’s core curriculum and serving students pursuing minors and certificates in the college. The college also houses University of Kentucky’s independent student newspaper, The Kentucky Kernel, and the championship winning Intercollegiate Debate program.
