Position Overview
CUMULUS MEDIA | Providence has an immediate opening for a Reporter/Producer. The ideal candidate understands story selection, the power of audio and sound, and the ability to grab the listener with compelling, fast-paced storytelling. Social media skills (Facebook), (X), Instagram, etc. are a must. You must also be willing to hit the street and report when needed.
We prefer the ideal candidate have at least 2 years of experience in broadcast news, and possesses an extremely excellent work ethic, displays a positive attitude and is a self-starter.
Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and voice news stories including outside of the newsroom
- Write news stories for the station websites
- Post new stories on social media
- Handles emergency news/weather in show; on call for weather disasters/breaking news
- Individual will perform various news duties as needed, with the potential of working overnight or early morning hours, and some anchoring as necessary
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience
- Previous experience in radio news or website journalism
- Familiarity with digital audio editing software required
- Experience with long-form, breaking, non-scripted, weather coverage is vital
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Great team player
