Job Description
COMPANY: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.

TITLE: Engineer III, Manufacturing Engineering
HOURS: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
DUTIES: Plan and implement engineering products to improve quality, increase operating performance, and add process capability to the plan.
Troubleshoot existing processes to recommend and develop/design engineering solutions and equipment to address capacity, cost, and quality issues.
Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives and support Practical Process Improvement (PPI) activities.
Act as Project Engineer to lead, plan, and implement automation projects.
Collaborate with internal departments to develop engineering specifications and plans.
Identify and implement new automation equipment such as liquid handlers and oligo synthesizers to meet product and process requirements.
Collect and analyze data using engineering principles and statistical models and interpret results and plan and design experiments.
Author and maintain project documentation including: Timelines, Risk Assessments, Drawings, Schematics, SOPs, Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&IDs).
TRAVEL: Up to 10% domestic and international travel required.
REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study plus 2 years of experience as a Scientist, Chemist, or related occupation. Experience can be obtained through concurrent graduate-level coursework, internships, and/or co-ops. Employer will also accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study plus 4 years of experience as a Scientist, Chemist, or related occupation as an equivalent alternative. Experience may be obtained through concurrent graduate-level coursework, internships, and/or co-ops.
Required knowledge or experience with:
SolidWorks or AutoCAD;
New equipment design, automation, and systems integration;
Oligo synthesizers;
Equipment validation procedures (IQOQ);
Process optimization and continuous improvements methodology through DOEs; and
PCR and DNA analytical methods.
Salary: $155,750 - $158,500 per year.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary pay range estimated for this position Engineer III, Manufacturing Engineering based inCalifornia is $155,750.00-$158,500.00.
