Turbine Controls Engineer

Salary- $80,000.00 -$105,000.00/ YR

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement PLC-based control systems for gas turbine power generation and oil & gas applications, including software development, testing, and commissioning.


• Review project designs to ensure alignment with customer requirements outlined in technical specifications, RFQs/RFPs, and purchase orders.


• Create, review, and approve electrical and control system drawings including layouts, wiring diagrams, schematics, block diagrams, and network topologies.


• Develop PLC software based on logic diagrams, control narratives, OEM documentation, P&IDs, and cause & effect matrices.


• Generate technical documentation including Factory/Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT), control specifications, device summaries, operator/user manuals, and maintenance guides.


• Troubleshoot existing PLC programs using historical and real-time data along with customer input.


• Provide site services such as installation supervision, testing, startup, and customer training.


• Follow established engineering standards, project execution guidelines, and quality assurance protocols.


• Travel up to 30-50% for domestic and international fieldwork.

Qualifications:

• 
  Education:
  
  
  
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; Mechanical Engineering degree with relevant controls/programming experience considered.
  
  
  
  


• 
  Experience:
  
  
  
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Electrical, Controls, or Project Engineering roles.
  
  
  • 3+ years of automation experience involving hands-on PLC software development, configuration, and testing.
  
  
  • Experience with gas turbines such as GE, Westinghouse, Siemens, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Solar, ABB, or Mitsubishi in power generation or oil & gas industries.
  
  
  
  


• 
  Technical Skills:
  
  
  
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D for creating electrical connection drawings.
  
  
  • Strong understanding of electrical/mechanical systems and ability to interpret manufacturer data sheets.
  
  
  • Electrical testing tools experience (digital multimeters, process calibrators, function generators).
  
  
  • Familiarity with low voltage power distribution (480 VAC/120 VAC) and process control instrumentation.
  
  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
  
  
  
  


• 
  Preferred Software Proficiency:
  
  
  
  • PLC Platforms: Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation, Siemens, GE/Emerson (MKV, MKVI, MKVIe).
  
  
  • HMI Platforms: RSView Studio, FactoryTalk View, Cimplicity, Wonderware/InTouch, Ignition.
  
  
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, cable schedules, control logic, P&IDs, and cause & effect diagrams.
