The Process & Controls Engineering Manager will organize, plan and prioritize the process and controls development, implementation, improvement and sustainment throughout the manufacturing facility. This role will lead and develop the Process and Controls Engineering teams. Responsibilities include driving efficiency in manufacturing processes, improving quality, and implementing innovative solutions with automation while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
Lead Process & Controls Engineering Teams in:
The development and implementation of process improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
Utilizing lean manufacturing, six sigma and other continuous improvement activities to optimize workflow.
Implementing solutions to improve productivity, quality and cost-effectiveness
Supervise, lead and mentor a team of Process and Controls Engineers.
Develop training programs to enhance the team’s technical skills and process knowledge.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance and all Engineering Teams to ensure seamless operations.
Troubleshoot Process & Controls related issues and provide technical support to Production Teams and Maintenance.
Evaluate and refine standard work procedures to enhance process reliability.
Oversee the selection, design and installation of new manufacturing equipment and technologies.
Drive automation and digitization efforts to improve manufacturing processes.
Ensure proper equipment maintenance and calibration for optimal performance.
Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Collaborate with quality teams to reduce defects and improve product consistency.
Use data analytics and key performance indicators to monitor and improve process performance.
Prepare reports for cost savings, process improvements, capital and automation projects for management.
Develop and manage process & controls engineering budget and cost reduction initiatives.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
Experience: 6+ years in an engineering discipline with at least 3 years in a managerial role in a manufacturing setting
Technical Skills:
Expertise in lean manufacturing and six sigma (green or blackbelt preferred).
Strong knowledge of process automation, robotics, PLCs and industrial controls systems
Experience in Foundry and Plastic Injection Molding operations
Experience with ERP systems and data analytic tools
