General Summary (What is done and why)

The Business Analyst will build requirements and conduct business analysis to ensure the effective and efficient use of technology in the execution of business strategy and frictionless processes. The Business Analyst will improve project outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction by applying proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills while functioning in a liaison capacity to translate business requirements into quality system deployments. The Business Analyst will work with the business unit and stakeholders to determine the best solution that minimizes pain points/waste and maximizes efficiency.  For the Continuous Improvement aspect of this role, the Business Analyst will be responsible for understanding, documenting, and articulating current business processes and their challenges. 

Essential Functions, in Priority Order (Majority of duties, but not meant to be all inclusive or prevent other duties from being assigned as necessary)


  1. Proactively collaborate with stakeholders to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: functional/business requirements and technical specification documents, use cases, workflows, pain points, and interface designs (30%).

  2. Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to all stakeholders. Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options and communicating back to the business stakeholders (20%).

  3. Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements– verbally or through written documentation – to all stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood (20%).

  4. Works with various business units to identify technical process output modeling by capturing Business Capability Mappings and Application Communication Diagrams.  Should assist other business units in the creation of other TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) documentation as required (10%).

  5. Work with internal stakeholders to drive and assist with internal application or internal Continuous Improvement implementations.  Ensure assigned Continuous Improvement initiatives remain on track as scheduled (20%).

  6. Partner with internal customers to create test plans and oversee testing of software solutions to verify adherence to quality standards. Validate the solution’s test results, reports and other test evidence against the requirements and acceptance criteria to determine whether the solution is satisfied (5%).

  7. Create, review and test technical specifications documents, while providing support to development and quality assurance teams on functional and technical procedures (5%).

Education (Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position)


  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field, or two years of related experience required

  • 3+ years’ experience working in Business Analysis

  • 3+ years’ experience working in Quality Assurance


Experience (Minimum experience required to perform the duties of this position)

In addition to the education requirement:


  • Work experience in developing user requirements

  • Work experience in a project management or continuous improvement capacity

  • Work experience with Agile methodology, Scrum, or Product Owner is preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Minimum experience, technical and communication skill levels and licenses/certificates normally required to perform the duties of this position)


  • Competent and efficient in the use of productivity tools such as MS Word, Excel, Visio, Azure Dev Ops, and OneNote

  • Strong familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project or other commercially available tools

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive work across cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated ability to partner and influence team members and stakeholders with a collaborative and solution-oriented approach

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Physical Demands (Physical effort generally associated with this position)

Work involves standing and walking for brief periods of time, but most work is done from a seated position. There is potential for eyestrain from prolonged work at the computer.  Individual must be able to travel to complete applicable assignments, projects and training. Deadlines, workloads and pressure to achieve goals may cause increased stress levels.

Working Conditions (Typical working conditions associated with this type of work and environmental hazards, if any, that may be encountered in performing the duties of this position)

Internal -- work is normally performed in climate-controlled office environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of normal office equipment (computers, telephones, etc.) No known environmental hazards are encountered in normal performance of duties. Length of day is unpredictable; long hours may be required to accommodate deadlines or special meetings.

External -- Some travel is required; however, information on environmental conditions is not available.
