Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Scientist III with a strong background in laboratory management. The ideal candidate will oversee daily lab operations, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, manage lab resources, and support scientific research activities. This role requires scientific expertise, leadership skills, and excellent organizational abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage the laboratory's daily operations, including maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and ensuring the availability of necessary supplies.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure efficient and safe laboratory practices.
Coordinate and schedule maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements, including maintaining proper documentation and records.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
Stay updated with the latest scientific advancements and technologies relevant to the lab's focus.
Manage laboratory budgets and expenditures, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Negotiate competitively with vendors and suppliers to procure laboratory equipment and materials.
Maintain an organized inventory system and ensure timely ordering of supplies.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and address any compliance or safety issues.
Prepare and present reports on laboratory performance and project progress to senior management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology).
Minimum of 4 years of experience in a laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a lab management focus role.
Strong knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory requirements.
Proven experience in developing and implementing SOPs.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in laboratory management software and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a specific area relevant to the lab's focus (e.g., genomics, proteomics, cell biology).
Certification in laboratory management or related fields.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $91,700.00-$137,525.00.
