Overview

Cobb EMC has an exciting opportunity for an Internal Audit Analyst who will execute all phases of assigned internal audit work including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and monitoring status of recommendations. Leverage technology to conduct assigned continuous auditing, data analysis, and compliance oversight. Assist with department activities to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance of Cobb EMC and its subsidiary Gas South.

 

Schedule: Monday- Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

Internal Audit

  • Conduct assigned internal audit test steps in accordance with the IIA Global Standards, ISACA Code of Professional Ethics and COBIT framework, and internal audit department procedures.
  • Write draft audit findings which consider criteria, condition, cause, and effect, and result in actionable. recommendations to management to address the findings.
  • Assist in presenting audit findings to auditee in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Write assigned draft audit reports which clearly summarize findings and recommendations.
  • Review assigned audit workpapers, findings, reports, or other department materials for quality and clarity.
  • Follow protocols to maintain documentation of audit workpapers.
  • Monitor the status of audit recommendations to assess if they are implemented by management in a timely manner.
  • Use corporate systems and analysis tools to execute assigned components of the continuous auditing and fraud monitoring programs.
  • Assist in preparing the annual risk assessment and internal audit work plan.
  • Assist with execution of a quality assurance and improvement program for the internal audit function.
  • Assist with tracking or validating key financial ratios and other performance indicators for Cobb EMC.
  • Support supervisor in creating and conducting periodic training or education to foster risk and controls awareness.
  • As assigned, represent the internal audit department in an advisory fashion on corporate project teams.
  • Keep informed of internal audit best practices, and business and industry changes affecting Cobb EMC.

Corporate Compliance

  • Use corporate systems to maintain the company-wide compliance tracker program.
  • Assist with other compliance assurance and monitoring activities as assigned.     

 



Qualifications



Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in internal audit, data analytics, or business analysis.
  • Working experience with Microsoft business intelligence and productivity tools such as Power BI, Forms, Planner and Project.
  • Obtain Internal Audit Practitioner designation within 1 year of hire

SKILLS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to study results, identify areas for improvement, and form recommendations.
  • Project management skills: ability to prioritize effectively, multi-task and meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail, commitment to quality and efficiency.
  • Proficiency with researching and synthesizing information.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate the completion of multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Hands-on team player with ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of personnel within the organization.
  • Quick learner, strong analytical and reasoning skills with great attention to details.
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
  • Possess valid Georgia driver’s license

 

PREFERRED:

  • Previous utility industry experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of IT concepts including networks, operating systems, databases, and security controls.
  • Experience with data analysis tools is a plus
  • Project Management Certification
