About this opportunity:
Join Cenovus Energy Inc. as a Market Analytics Specialist in our Houston, TX location within the Cenovus Commercial department. Collaborate with trading, business development and strategy professionals to implement refinery modeling analytics and communicate insights effectively.
What you'll do:
- Perform short-term market supply and demand analysis, refining value modelling to support trading and marketing activities.
- Collaborate with traders, corporate fundamentals team, strategy team, and senior and executive level leaders at Cenovus.
- Develop, improve and maintain proprietary crude value (LP) models and other models to forecast forward fair value pricing, crude switching points, economic run cuts, transportation arbs. Formulate key forward risks and opportunities for crude and refined products marketing optimization.
- Act as a subject matter expert in refining modelling on the team, guide and design improvements and models to understand refining market dynamics; mentor and motivate junior staff members
- Collaborate with trading desks to develop risk/reward analysis for trading optimization.
- Generate and present ad-hoc analyses to support various commercial short-term strategies.
Who you are:
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- 12+ years of related experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
- Strong analytical skills, proficient with R, Python and/or other programming languages; Hcomet, Spiral and/or other crude value modeling tools, Microsoft suite of products
- Experience in Crude and Refined Products supply and demand modeling within an energy trading/producer/refiner environment
- Expert knowledge of the North American crude and refined products markets, key infrastructure
